Dodie is a fully qualified teacher and completed City and Guilds parts 1 and 2, gaining a credit for her practical work.

She then began teaching textiles and beading as her main subjects. Now a member of The Embroiders’ Guild, she teaches throughout the WestCountry for West Country Embroiderers and The Embroiderers’ Guild.

She also runs classes each month from her home. Dodie is a member of the Bead Workers’ Guild, Celtic Beaders and the Embroiderers’ Guild.

Dodie’s 2001 solo exhibition at Wheelwrights in Abbotsbury was based on the masks and colours of Venice. Pieces of work that sold travelled all over the world.
